The star of the season despite losing in the WTA finals is clearly Iga Swiatek. The Polish player won eight single’s matches and maintained an impressive streak of 37 straight victories. While she failed to add the WTA final glory to the list of her US Open and French Open win, Swiatek has successfully attained an unmatchable feat. Swiatek attaining the No. 1 spot has collected 11,085 points in total. She is just the second player to reach the 11,000 mark after Serena Williams ever since the new ranking system came into being in 2009.

Swiatek’s historic run in the WTA season has come in the hindsight of the sudden retirement of the previous champion, Ashleigh Barty. Barty was the reigning champion resting atop the rankings from 2019-21. However, the US star opted out of the season in March. And now with the finals concluded with Garcia’s win, here are the players at the top ranks in the latest rankings list.
