Zverev roars in Paris, Medvedev down against Čilić whereas Women's got two debutants in the semis

It was all about big matches amongst some big players. Top players are eliminated from the tournament whereas some are on their way with some records. Let us look at the happenings in the Roland Garros 2022 Day 10.

Men’s Singles

Cilic destroyed the World No 2 Daniil Medvedev

The 20th-seed Marin ÄŒilić of Croatia outplayed the Russian No one through the fourth round. He achieved his career’s greatest win against top five players on Tuesday. Marin dominated Daniil throughout the match. Daniil Medvedev could not find any rhythm through the course of the match thus letting Marin ÄŒilić win by 6-2,6-3,6-2.

Sascha Zverev made the records equal against Carlos Alcaraz

Alexander Zverev made it to his second time Roland Garros semifinals beating Carlos Alcaraz in four sets. He saved a couple of match points against the rising star of Spain. The match was absolute breathtaking till the moment of winning. Zverev showcased great serves with the best aces and heavy cross-court backhands along with forehands. He showed his best performance so far in this tournament and proved himself as the World No 3 beating Alcaraz by 6-4,6-4,4-6,7-6(9-7).

Women’s Singles

Cori Gauff’s debut in the Grand Slam semifinal at the age of 18

The American teen outburst against Sloane Stephens in yet another straight-set. She fought back to wrap the first set by 7-5 just after losing a game to her rival. Gauff simply made it smooth to win the set and the match by 6-2 in little time. She will meet another debutant in the semifinals on Thursday, 2 June.

Maria Trevisan marches her first-ever semis in any Grand Slam

The Italian, Maria Trevisan reached the semifinals defeating the US Open finalist, Leylah Fernandez in three sets. She played mind-blowing tennis throughout the match thus leading Fernandez vulnerable to play. Maria with a couple of slight mistakes missed the second set tiebreak but however conquered the match by 6-2,6-7,6-3 opposite Leylah.

Men’s Doubles

The new World No one, Salisbury out of the tournament

The American-British pair are out of the tournament, losing against the Dodig-Krajicek duo in three tight sets. The number one seeded pair started with an easy set win but couldn’t hold the tiebreak by 6-7(9-11). The match led to a decider set which also turned to a tiebreak that resulted in tougher than the previous one. Ultimately, the duo lost the match by 6-3,6-7,6-7(10-12).

The fourth seed duo continues their run through the quarters

Granollers and Zeballos defeated the 6th-seed pair, Skupski and Koolhof. Even after, the first set down the duo came back strong and won both sets. They will be facing Krajicek-Dodig in the semifinals on Thursday.

Women’s Doubles

Both American pair through the quarterfinals

The 10th-seed pair, Sania Mirza and Hradecka lost against Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff in straight two sets. Followed by another win by the American duo, Townsend and Madison Keys defeating the Ukrainian-Romanian pair to march to the semifinals.
