Coco Gauff made her debut in the WTA Top 10

Gauff stricken the fastest serve in women's singles at 128 mph in her second round of the U.S Open!

Coco Gauff will become the youngest woman to debut in the WTA Top 10 since 17-year-old Nicole Vaidisova in 2006. She will be the first American woman since Serena Williams at the age of 17 in 1999. At the age of 18 years and 183 days, Coco Gauff will be positioned in the top 10 on Monday 12, September.

She becomes the third American to debut in the top 10 stamping behind the 28-year-old Danielle Collins in early January and Jessica Pegula in June. Gauff achieved two career titles, both in 2021. Cori geared up her performance after a very early elimination from the Australian Open 2022 to head toward a big goal.

Gauff is the first American to be the youngest woman since Serena Williams at age of 17 in 1999. The American sensational already made her debut in the Grand Slam final, that is, the 2022 French Open, but unfortunately, she lost to Iga Swiatek. Nevertheless, Coco Guaff secured her spot in the top 10 because of her brilliant U.S Open 2022 performance. She finished her run at the U.S Open, ending in the last eight as she lost to Carolina Garcia in the quarters.

She defensively advanced in her first quarter-final defeating L. Jeanjean in the first round. Followed by Ruse (def. 6-2, 7-6) in the second, Madison Keys(20) by 6-2, 6-3, b. Zhang in straight sets (7-5, 7-5). Ultimately, she lost to the reigning French Open women’s doubles champion, Carolina Garcia by 3-6, 4-6.

But, unfortunately, last year’s U.S Open women’s doubles finalist lost the beginning round against Fernandez/Gavrilova in a thrilling three-setter match.

From the beginning of this year, Coco Gauff made it to the semi-finals of the WTA 500 Adelaide International. Followed by WTA 500 Berlin Open, along with many quarter-finals at WTA 1000 tournaments at Qatar Open and National Bank Open in Toronto. Also, Gauff advanced in yet another WTA 500 event in San Jose.

However, Coco Gauff ranks as the World’s No one in the women’s doubles which she reached in mid-August.
