World No.8 Andrey Rublev will take on the qualifier Jiri Lehecka in the Second Round of the 2022 Serbia Open on Thursday, April 21.
Andrey Rublev is having a tremendous year so far. Having just completed quarter of the year, the Russian already secured two titles, the being the Marseille Open and the Dubai Open. Rublev won four more matches in Indian Wells reaching the semifinals, but eventually falling short with a semifinal defeat to Taylor Fritz. Since the start of clay season, he only played at the Monte Carlo Masters where he won against Alex De Minaur but exited the very next round after loosing to Jannik Sinner. Being the second seed in Serbia, he will be of the top contenders for the title.
Jiri Lehecka is having a very unpredictable year so far. He surprised everyone in the Rotterdam Open earlier this year, where playing as a qualifier he reached the semifinals. He beat Denis Shapovalov, Botic Van de Zandschulp and Lorenzo Musetti, before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Lehecka registered his first ATP tour win in the clay season after defeating Henry Laaksonen in the first round of the Serbia Open. With the gained confidence, he will look to upset the young Russian in the second round.
