Third seed Roberto Bautista Agut will square off against fifth seed Ramos Vinolas in the semifinals of the Generali Open on Friday.
Bautista Agut entered the ATP 250 event after a string of early exits from the Wimbledon Championships, Swedish Open and Swiss Open in Bastad. The 34-year-old, though, broke his three-match losing record in Kitzbuhel with a decent straight-sets success over Jurij Rodionov and a thrilling comeback triumph over Jiri Lehecka to advance to the round of four. He won an exciting three-set match against the Czech tennis pro, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Ramos-Vinolas on the other hand, has had tough victories against Dominic Stricker and Nicolas Jarry on his way to the semifinals, but he was unable to stave off Casper Ruud’s challenge.
However, the 34-year-old maintained his impressive form in Kitzbuhel with impressive victories against Pedro Martinez and Juan Pablo Varillas. He advanced to the semifinals twice in the previous two weeks by first defeating the Peruvian 6-3, 6-4, and then dominating the seventh seed 6-4, 6-2.
