The Calder Cup 2024 Finals begin Thursday night as eleven-time champions Hershey Bears go against the rookies Coachella Valley Firebirds. The best-of-seven series will determine the champions of the American Hockey League.
The Hershey Bears are the oldest team in the American Hockey League, playing since the 1932-33 season. They are affiliated with the Washington Capitals (NHL) and South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL). Obviously, the Bears are also the most successful in the AHL- having won eleven titles. On the other hand, Coachella Valley Firebirds, an affiliate of the Seattle Kraken joined the AHL in 2022. They are chasing their first-ever Calder Cup. In addition to the Kraken, the Firebirds are also affiliated with the Kansas City Mavericks.
