National Basketball Association (NBA) is the most famous basketball league in the whole world. It was founded in 1946 as the Basketball Association of America (BAA) with only 11 teams initially. Later, the BAA merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) to form the NBA as we all know it today.
Throughout the history of the NBA, the league has seen several teams achieving grand success and becoming iconic franchises. There have been many teams producing iconic and legendary players, who would later go on to become the face of the NBA franchise.
The Celtics, for example, have a record of 17 NBA championships until now. On the other hand, The Los Angeles Lakers also have a record of 17 championships as well. These two teams are among the most famous and fan-favorite franchises of the league.
Also not skipping about the ’90s most beloved team The Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan himself. Who dominated the league winning six championships for the Bulls, and creating history by becoming the best basketball player in the world. Tim Duncan brought the San Antonio Spurs to the light by winning five championships for the team and becoming what the fans call “ the greatest power forward of all time”.
NBA and its different teams
Over the years, the NBA has also added and resettled different teams in various cities. Changing formats and developing requirements for the NBA teams also led the different franchises to reproduce their names.
For example, the Seattle SuperSonics which is now the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Vancouver Grizzlies now the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Charlotte Hornets now the New Orleans Pelicans.
Once again the NBA might see some near changes in the future. One of which might be the updated starting lineups of the major teams of this decade.
Here’s a list of 5 different teams in the NBA that may need remodeling in the nearer future.
Los Angeles Lakers
Watching the previous season’s roster changes of the Los Angeles Lakers, it can be well said that the board is certainly not hesitant towards making changes. This year, only three players – James, Davis, and Max Christie – have signed for the next season with a total salary. If the Lakers fail again in performing this season, then except for Lebron there might be some major changes to their team’s roster.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets played a big role in the previous season. They placed 5th in the Eastern Conference by winning 34 and losing 24 games in that season. Booking the league’s top-performing players like Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving the Net’s certainly made a lot of buzz throughout that season.
And for that reason as both of the players have departed from the franchisee this season, it would certainly become rough for the team to hold in the coming seasons.
Dallas Mavericks
As it is now official that Irving’s been traded to the Mavericks, it might actually fail to be what the team’s hoping for. With only 5 months left, it might be difficult for the franchise to experiment with other players around Irving and Luca’s duo. Seeing this combination one can definitely tell that there will be major changes to the Dallas roster in the coming years.
Toronto Raptors
The Raptors, which was standing 5th in the Eastern Conference the previous season is certainly not a bad team. The record they had last year of 48 wins and 34 losses says otherwise, but studying the roster and its made changes they obviously had potential.
This year again they are way too far from being a star-studded team, as they are currently 5th in the Eastern Conference with 28 wins and 31 losses. Therefore, this team is also on a verge of big changes in the coming next seasons.
Utah Jazz
Utah on the other hand is doing well this season knowing the fact of how new this team is. The only thing missing is a star player that can carry the team forward in producing the best results for the franchise. Utah’s roster needs a powerful point guard to support the rest of the team in the making. Although the board is making smart moves keeping their long-term goals in hand which might result in major changes in the future.
