UFC 277 – Peña Vs. Nunes 2 – The Sports Lite

Julianna Pena (+230) vs. Amanda Nunes (-275)

UFC 277 is going to feature Julianna Pena vs. Amanda Nunes 2.

UFC 269: Pena vs Nunes 1 – What went down?

When the two first faced off in UFC 269, Pena pulled off one of the biggest upsets in sports history. The Venezuelan Vixen had the Lioness’ number. After standing and exchanging blows with the victor, she finally submitted the champion in the second round.

It was a fantastic demonstration of the new champion’s competence and self-assurance. One of the most skilled fighters in the sport, Nunes, also put on an unexpectedly unsatisfactory effort.

A bout will follow the high-profile rematch for an interim title. Kai Kara-France and Brandon Moreno will square off for the interim flyweight championship.

What about Amanda?

Brazilian boxer Amanda Nunes was regarded as the best female fighter alive up until December of last year. She had soundly defeated every other female champion in either weight class, including Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, and Miesha Tate. She held the UFC’s bantamweight and featherweight belts. Not to mention her two victories against Valentina Shevchenko, the flyweight champion and another pound-for-pound superstar.

Julianna Pena shook the world!

There was just no disputing that Nunes was the pound-for-pound queen of the sport. She lost her bantamweight title to Julianna Pena, a huge underdog, beat her to a submission loss in the second round of the co-main event of UFC 269.

One of the biggest upsets in MMA history, the match immediately polarised the audience. Some people thought Nunes had merely become complacent. Others said Pena simply knew Nunes’ phone number.

The rematch everyone has been waiting for!

Because it was clear from the beginning that this was the only way to put an end to the debate. The UFC had to schedule the two for a rematch.

Nunes and Pena will rematch in the main event of Saturday’s UFC 277 program in Dallas.

Will Nunes turn things around and retake the bantamweight title, or will Pena benefit from lightning twice? Even though there is no way to know until they are in the same cage, a closer examination of their games shows some intriguing details.

Because she defeated Amanda Nunes the previous year, Julianna Pena is deserving of the utmost respect. We’ll never know whether Nunes’ mental state was a contributing factor, but Pena performed as necessary in those conditions to win a world title. That can’t be taken away from her.

Still, it’s difficult to picture Pena winning this fight again unless Nunes has entirely lost her motivation or interest in training. From the ones we’ve examined to the ones we haven’t, including her strength and athleticism, the Brazilian appears to be superior in almost every aspect of this fight.
