How is the F1 Super license cost calculated?
To be a Formula 1 racer, a driver needs to have a super license, which costs thousands of dollars. Likewise, every F1 driver has a super license that expires at the end of the season, which also needs to be renewed. Well, to renew a super license, there is a fixed amount of €10,400 set by the FIA, plus €2,100 per point scored in the past season.
For example:
- Points scored by Max Verstappen: 575 points
- Points scored by Sergio Perez: 285 points
- Total points: 575 + 285 = 860 points
- Base fee: €10,400 + €10,400 = €20,800
- Scored points fee: 860 points x €2,100 = €1,806,000
- Total fee: €20,800 + €1,806,000 = €1,826,800
