Who are the Eight Players Heading to AFC Asian Cup From Premier League?

Who are the eight players from Premier League heading to 2024 AFC Asian Cup?

Japanese and South Korean AFC Asian Cup Squad has the most number of players in Premier League, three each. Iran and Indonesia has one player each.

Iran

Saman Ghoddos from Brentford is an attacking mid-fielder/striker who plays for Iran. Ghoddos, born in Sweden to Iranian parents, played for Sweden before shifting allegiance to Iran in 2017. He has made 41 appearances for Iran with two goals to his name.

South Korea

Brentford sends two players to 2024 AFC Asian Cup. Apart from Seyed Saman Ghoddos, Kim Ji-Soo is set to boot up for South Korea. Kim Ji-Soo, 19, plays as a centre back for Brentford’s reserve team, Brentford B. He received acclaim after his sensational play in the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup. His performance was instrumental in South Korea’s run to the semi-finals.

The other South Koreans in the list are Hwang Hee-Chan (Wolverhampton Wolves) and Son Heung-Min (Tottenham Hotspur). Hee-Chan, aka Hwangso, has played 60 Internationals for South Korea and scored 12 goals. Amongst his goals is the winner against Portugal in 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Widely regarded as one of the best Asian footballers, Son is the captain of the South Korean side. He has previously finished second in 2015 AFC Asian Cup and won gold in 2018 Asian Games. He, the third-highest goal-scorer for South Korea, has 117 International Caps.

Japan 

Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton Hove and Albion is one of the looked up players ahead of 2024 AFC Asian Cup. He has played 18 games for Japan and scored 7 goals so far.

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has played 37 games in Japanese Jersey. He was a part of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup campaign where Japan finished with a silver. He captained the squad in the final. His single International goal came in the same tournament against Saudi Arabia. Tomiyasu played an important part in Japan’s U19 AFC Championship victory in 2016.

The last and final PL Player for Japan, Wataru Endo plays for Liverpool. The 30-year-old is the captain of the Japanese Team. He has been a part of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Silver and 2016 AFC U-23 Gold.

Indonesia

Born in Netherlands, Justin Hubner, represents the Indonesia Football Team. The 20-year-old Wolves Centre-Back. He has appeared in two games for the Indonesian Senior Squad.
