Manchester City sinks rivals United in a nine-goal thriller at Etihad

Manchester Derby has happened 186 times in the past, this was the 187th time.

Manchester: Manchester City defeated United mercilessly 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium. The Manchester victory comes thanks to hattricks by Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. Antony Martial scored twice while Antony scored the other for the opposition.

Phil Foden started the goal riot eight minutes into the game. The Devils’ defense stood eyes out as Haaland shot two into the Devil’s net in three minutes. Foden added the fourth to up the takes just before half-time. Antony scored a brace in the 56th providing some sense of relief for the Devils. Pretty much within ten minutes, Erling Haaland scored his third and in the next ten, Foden hit a hat-trick. By then, United understood the class difference in the game. Antony Martial drove a rebound past Ederson in the 84th minute. United got one last chance to save their face at the 90th after Cancelo caught Martial in the ankle. Martial shot it at the top corner drawing a United supremacy in the second half. But, it did not matter. Not a single bit.

The Derby of Manchester happened for the 187th time. The match recorded itself in history books by being the most competitive and high-scoring Manchester derby in all its history. Manchester City moved to second in the points table. The Blues are now one point behind the current table toppers Arsenal. United on the other hand is stuck at sixth behind Brighton and Chelsea. The Devils next face the Cypriot side Omonia F.C at the Europa League Group Stage before heading back to Premier League against the Toffees. Man City, on the other hand, face Copenhagen in their Champions League fixture. The Blues’ next PL match is against Southampton at Etihad.
