FIFA World Cup 2022: Top Group Stage matches to look out for

Apart from that, each previous World Cup edition has provided us with incredible fixtures and witnessed some of the greatest clashes between teams.

The time has come for all 32 nations to go head-to-head and put on their best show in order to win the prestigious World Cup. This year, Qatar accepted the responsibility of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022, and despite some controversy, the first match is scheduled to begin on November 20th, between the host nation Qatar and Ecuador. Apart from that, each previous World Cup edition has provided us with incredible fixtures and witnessed some of the greatest clashes between teams. Looking back at the previous competition, whether it was Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick in the 3-3 draw against Spain, South Korea knocking out 2014 World Cup winner Germany in the group stages, or Croatia silencing Argentina with a 3-0 victory, the world cup has always provided classic fixtures for their fans. So today we’ll take a look at some of the best FIFA World Cup 2022 fixtures.

Some of the best FIFA World Cup 2022 fixtures are:

Group D: France vs. Denmark (Saturday, November 26)

In that order, France and Denmark are the favourites to advance from Group D. 2018 World Cup winner France will have a difficult time facing Denmark because the Danish side has assembled a strong team for this edition. Despite the fact that Australia and Tunisia are in this group, France and Denmark will be battling it out of the group stages. France is led by Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Hugo Lloris, while Denmark is led by midfield duo Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Group C: Argentina vs. Mexico (Sunday, November 27)

One of the contenders to win this year’s World Cup, Argentina is in the group with Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Poland. However, the clash between Argentina and Mexico is a must as both teams possess the ability and skills to take each together down. Even though the ‘Albiceleste’ has a stronger team on paper, Mexico is also not to be taken lightly. Argentina has Lionel Messi, and Angel di Maria on their list. While Mexico has Guillermo Ochoa as their guardian custodian and Hirving Lozano up front for the attack.

Group E: Spain vs. Germany (Monday, November 28)

The grand clash between the 2010 and 2014 World Cup winners. Spain and Germany have been drawn into the same group along with Costa Rica and Japan. Spain is this year’s underdog team as they have gone through a lot of changes after the appointment of Luis Enrique. Germany on the other hand will be at the prospect of exacting vengeance on Spain for their defeat in the UEFA Euro 2008 Final. Both sides have some top names in their squad and this fixture will surely be one of the most-watched games in this FIFA World Cup 2022.

Group B: Iran vs USA (Tuesday, November 29)

It’s been dubbed “The Mother of All Games Part II.” In a politically charged matchup, the two countries Iran and USA will meet in the World Cup group stage, just as they did in 1998. Diplomatic relations between the countries have yet to be restored since they were severed in 1980. Even though this match is not as big as the other fixtures, it surely is one electrifying match as they have a long political history.

Group H: Ghana vs. Uruguay (Friday, December 2)

This particular fixture takes us back to July 2, 2010. In the final minute of extra time in a World Cup quarterfinal match between Uruguay and Ghana, Luis Suarez purposefully stopped the ball with his hand on the goal line and was sent off, only for Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan to miss the penalty and lose in a shootout as Suarez celebrated on the sideline. So, Ghana will be all geared up to seek vengeance against the Uruguayans. No matter how strong the Uruguayans are Ghana will be 100% prepared to face the challenge.
