Barcelona dropped points once again this Sunday as they were held to a goalless draw by Getafe. This resulted in reducing the gap between Real Madrid to 11 points.
Barcelona came into a game without a win in their last two matches. Their last two matches resulted in a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey and a goalless draw against Girona.
Another goalless draw means that Barca now has failed to score in their last 3 matches. This goal drought should be a huge concern for their manager Xavi especially since winning La Liga is a priority for them now.

Barca never really seemed too involved in the game apart from a few long range efforts. They created some half-chances that they couldn’t take advantage of. In the first half, they hit the post twice as Raphinha failed to convert a 1v1 against the goalkeeper with Balde hitting the post with the rebound as well.
Lewandowski had another quiet game. He now hasn’t scored since scoring twice against Elche in the 4-0 win. His goal drought has added to Barca’s injury woes. With Pedrj, De Jong, and Dembele all sidelined with injuries, the Catalan giants would surely pray for Lewandowski to get his old form back.

Getafe had a few great chances on the counter-attack which they failed to capitalize on. Their goalkeeper Soria particularly had a good game. He saved some good long-range efforts and also a powerful strike from Kessie from point-blank range.
Although an 11-point lead might sound safe, the way Barca have been playing lately, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if their arch-rivals catch up with them. Xavi will surely have to reevaluate his plans and come back stronger. Real Madrid on the other hand will surely be hoping for more such results from Barca.
