Chelsea has rehired Frank Lampard as their interim manager until the end of the season. The Chelsea legend who had an illustrious career with the Blues as a player didn’t enjoy similar success in his previous term as Chelsea manager. He was sacked after a sub-par term but will be seen on the touchlines again against the Wolves.

Their previous manager Potter was sacked mid-season after a disastrous campaign with the London club. Chelsea now sits in 11th position in the league table with 9 games to go.

Frank Lampard’s first job as a manager would be to guide Chelsea through their Champions League tie against Real Madrid. The Los Blancos are in splendid form and are going to be a tough team to break. Lampard would also try and secure a spot for European football next season.

Chelsea on their official website confirmed the appointment of the club legend. The statement read, “We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend at this club.

As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season.”

It further read, “We are all going to give Frank our full backing as we aim to get the best possible outcome from all our remaining games.”

Frank Lampard in his first press conference admitted that the offer games as a surprise even to him. He added, “It’s a pretty easy decision. “This is my club. I have a lot of emotions and feelings. I’ve come with a belief I can come and help the cause until the end of the season. I’ll give my utmost to give the fans what they want.”

After his previous term, Lampard definitely has some unfinished business with Chelsea as their manager. He’s determined to work things out and end the season on a high. With many fans and pundits questioning his return, it will be interesting to see how Chelsea ends their season under him.
