Ex-Chelsea player Andreas Christensen has finally agreed a deal with FC Barcelona over his switch to the Spanish side. Christensen’s contract was expiring this May and he rejected the contract extension offered by Chelsea wanted a move away from Stamford Bridge. FC Barcelona president Juan Laporta reacted quickly and saw the opportunity in grabbing a star defender for free who would solve the defensive problems the club faced this season. A lot seems to go wrong for Chelsea after their ex-owner Roman Abramovich decided to sell the club and since then Rudiger has left and Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso also wants to leave. Barcelona were struggling in the defensive area during this season and wanted a top quality centre back and Xavi believes Andreas Christensen is the answers to their prayers. Christensen signs for the Catalan club on a five-year deal. The Danish defender was mostly on the bench due to injuries and then losing his place to the Thiago Silva but he believes he has can bring his best form to his new team. A lot clubs around Europe were looking to pounce on for him but he decided his move to the famous Camp Nou. He was a decent player for his now ex-side Chelsea having played 93 games and kept kept 29 clean sheets and also won a couple of trophies with both the Premier League and Champions League.

Andreas Christensen Wage and Transfer Fee 2022:
Andreas Christensen has become the second signing of the Spanish heavyweights for the 2022/23 season after Franck Kessie. With the difficulties FC Barcelona faced this season, Xavi knew they had to bring a quality centre-back and Christensen would be a great addition for his team to solve the problems in the back. FC Barcelona reacted quickly to sign him up on a free transfer deal allowing him a salary of €6 million per season keeping him at the club until 2027.

Huge boost for FC Barcelona in the defense:
With Christensen in the squad, it will give Xavi Hernandez a huge boost in the defense. He will be pairing up in the back with the experienced Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba, Sergio Dest and the young duo of Oscar Mingueza and Ronald Araujo the next season.
Problems for Chelsea:
With Christensen gone and Rudiger already signing for Real Madrid, things have gone from bad to worse for Chelsea. The 2020/21 UCL winning team is splitting as both Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso have also expressed their unwillingness to play for Chelsea. It will be a hard summer transfer window for the Thomas Tuchel as he has to find proper replacements for defense. There are talks that Chelsea are trying to bring Jules Koune into their side but only time will tell if the English heavyweights can bag some good signings this summer.
