Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s spin lead bowled very well in the 1st ODI. He took 4 important wickets today, giving only 49 runs. He used the pitch in the best possible way. The spinner’s first wicket came in the form of Shamarh Brooks. It was in the 20th over that Yuzi took two consecutive wickets, sending Pooran and Pollard back to the pavilion. “Felt good. Washi struck twice in an over so we knew pressure was on them. My job was to sustain that pressure. Got the feeling watching Washi bowl that the ball was gripping. First Innings
India won the toss and had put West Indies to bat first. Shai Hope and Brandon King opened the West Indies innings. The keeper-batsman Hope was sent early by the brilliant bowling of Mohammad Siraj. West Indies found it difficult to establish a partnership, as Indian bowlers kept on picking up wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal took 4 wickets. Jason Holder scored an important 57 runs off 71 deliveries. This knock was very important from the West Indies’ point of view. Fabian Allen also made an important 29. Because of brilliant bowling by Indian spinners, West Indies could not play the whole 50 overs. West Indies scored 176 runs losing all wickets, in 43.5 overs.

Second Innings
The total India had to chase was not huge, India looked very calm and confident from the first ball itself. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened the innings for India. Rohit Sharma scored 60 runs off 51 deliveries. To continue in the game WI needed to take his wicket. West Indies was finding it difficult to send him back to the pavilion. However, Alzarri Joseph got their first breakthrough in the form of Rohit Sharma. This was followed by a quick wicket of Kohli as well. Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan played their important quick knocks scoring 11 and 28 respectively.
Suryakumar and Deepak Hooda took the game forward from there onwards. Suryakumar scored 34 runs off 36 deliveries. While the debutant Deepak Hooda opened his international account by scoring 26 runs off 32 deliveries. It was an easy chase for India, they successfully scored the required 176 in 28 overs. India won the match by 6 wickets.
