Suryakumar Yadav has smashed his maiden IPL hundred against the Gujrat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. After being forced to bat first, Suryakumar’s 49-ball 103 led MI to a remarkable 218/5 in 20 overs.
The man who already has 3 T20I hundreds, smashes his maiden ton in the Indian Premier League. All of his centuries have came at a strike rate of 200 or above, such is his class. This is also the first hundred for Mumbai Indians since 2014. Lendl Simmons was the last MI batter to score a hundred against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) at this very stadium. SKY also registered the third highest individual score for Mumbai Indians. Only Sanath Jayasuriya (114) and Rohit Sharma (109*) are ahead.
Suryakumar Yadav came into bat in the 7th over, after Rashid Khan edged out Rohit Sharma. He started waving his magic from the second ball of his innings sweeping Rashid for a boundary! He had to drop anchor for a few overs as wickets were falling around him!
SKY scored 40 runs in his first 26 balls. He then broke through in the last five scoring 63 runs in his next 23 balls. Mumbai Indians smashed 54 runs in the last three overs, and 51 of them came off Suryakumar Yadav’s bat! He struck 11 fours and 6 sixes in his century hitting some ridiculous shots and the ball traveling to all parts.
Thanks to the SKY mania, Mumbai Indians have set a formidable target for Gujrat Titans as they chase 219 runs from 120 balls. Follow the full match here.
