Smriti Mandhana: “We March On”, Ahead of the Final ODI in Lords

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana so far has had an impressive series. She is looking forward to the upcoming very special last ODI at Lord's.

India W in the second ODI trampled England W by a massive margin of 88 runs. This was only possible with the overall effort made by the Women In Blue. However, Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 143 off 111 and Renuka Thakur’s four-wicket haul deserve special attention. Moreover, the victory helped the India Women’s team register a series win against England after 23 long years. Star Indian batter Smriti Mandhana comments on the team’s performance post the historic victory as she wrote, “Lord’s, next. Looking forward to ending the series on a positive note. We march on.”

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana so far has had an impressive series. In the first game, she took her team over the victory line with the help of 91 not-out. And in the latter ODI Mandhana scored a quick 40 to put team India in a strong position.

While India W has sealed a 2-0 lead in the three-match series against England W in England, Kaur’s team would like to whitewash Amy Jones-led England, to bid Jhulan Goswami a marvelous farewell. Before the tour of England started, veteran Indian fast-bowler had announced her retirement from International cricket, post the ODI series. Hence, Goswami will be playing her last ODI game at Lord’s, a.k.a The Home of Cricket, which is a dream for most cricketers.
