Rohit Sharma becomes the highest run scorer in t20Is while Chahal becomes the leading wicket taker for India in the format

India and Sri Lanka played the first match of the three-match T20I series in Lucknow yesterday. The visitors were blown away by the blistering knocks of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer before the Indian bowlers completed the job in second inning. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 44 runs and gave a solid start to the Indian inning along with Ishan Kishan. In the process, Rohit Sharma became the highest run scorer in T20Is. In the latter half of the game, Yuzvendra Chahal picked up the wicket of the Lankan captain, Dasun Shanaka, to become the leading wicket taker for India in the format.

Rohit Sharma made his T20I debut in 2007 and he’s the most capped Indian player in T20Is. He has played 123 matches and scored 3307 runs in the format for India. All of Martin Guptill, Virat Kohli and Rohit have been playing musical chairs for the top spot in the leaderboard of highest run scorers’ list for a few years. While Martin Guptill has 3299 T20I runs written along with his name, Virat Kohli is just 3 shy of Guptill’s tally. The former Indian captain, Kohli, has scored 3296 runs in T20I cricket. Rohit will play a couple of more games in this series and will look forward to capitalize on his lead.

Yuzvendra Chahal becomes the leading wicket taker for india in T20 internationals

Before the start of this game, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah had the same number of wickets in T20I cricket. Both of them were locked in at 66 wickets but as soon as Chahal got rid of Dasun Shanaka, he overtook Bumrah. While Shanaka was Chahal’s only wicket in the match, Bumrah went wicket-less. However, with the contributions of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja India beat the Lankan Lions comfortably by 62 runs. The teams will now travel to Dharamsala for the rest of the matches of this Paytm series.
