Mohammed Siraj became the No. 1 ODI Bowler, After an Impressive Performance against New Zealand

After outstanding performances in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Mohammed Siraj was named the new No. 1 bowler.

Following several outstanding performances in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Mohammed Siraj was named the new No. 1 bowler.

In one-day international matches over the past couple of years, Siraj has been India’s standout bowler. Siraj particularly excelled when Jasprit Bumrah was sidelined with an injury. The 28-year-old demonstrated his value to the team with consecutive four-wicket hauls against Sri Lanka, followed by one against New Zealand in the opening game.

Mohammed Siraj and his wonderful form for India

The right-handed pacer recorded an impressive average of 10.22 while taking nine wickets in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Siraj finished the ODI series against New Zealand with five wickets after being rested for the decisive game, which India won to complete a 3-0 sweep. On Tuesday, the ICC’s ODI Team of 2022 was announced, and he was included alongside Shreyas Iyer. This was another reward for his purple patch.

After the most recent update to the ICC Rankings, the 28-year-old has now added a new honour to his resume: he is now the new No. 1 bowler in the 50-over format. He currently has 729 rating points. Captain Rohit Sharma praised Siraj for his wonderful contributions

He said: “I have spoken a lot about him. The more cricket he has played, he has become better in terms of understanding his bowling. I think in this game, it is about understanding what you can do. What is your ability? The moment you understand that I think you can be more effective for the team and Siraj has exactly done that in the last couple of years he has played. Whichever format be it. He has done really well. He understands what the team is expecting from him. To come and take the new ball. To swing the ball, get early wickets. In the middle overs, again he has got so much skill. He can come and do all those kinds of skills. The more he plays, the better he gets,”
