England Pacer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the entire summer of international cricket for England after being diagnosed with a stress fracture to the lower back, prolonging the fast bowler’s injury woe that has seen him sidelined for the past year.
The 27-year-old, who has not played competitively since last July, was absent from the T20 World Cup and missed the subsequent Ashes tour of Australia with an elbow injury.

“No timeframe has been set for his return. A management plan will be determined following further specialist opinion over the coming days,”Â
said the ECB in a statement.
“After being diagnosed with a stress fracture to the lower back, England and Sussex seamer Jofra Archer has been ruled out for the rest of the season,”
ECB statement added.
Jofra was expected to return this summer
Archer was set to make his comeback for Sussex vs Glamorgan on May 26 in the T20 Blast but he will have to wait a few more months before taking the field again.
Mumbai Indians spent Rs. 8 crores to purchase Archer at this year’s mega auction despite knowing his unavailability this season. This latest setback will raise questions if Archer will be fit and firing for the 2024 season.
Archer is the latest addition to a host of injuries to pacers in England. The likes of Sam Curran, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, Ollie Robinson, Saqib Mahmood, and Matthew Fisher are already injured.
England start a busy home international season with a three-Test match series against New Zealand on June 2.
