The struggling Delhi Capitals have announced ex-U19 Indian skipper Priyam Garg as the replacement for injured Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Fast bowler Nagarkoti is ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to a lower back stress fracture.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti, 23 was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018. However, he has faced severe back issues and has only played 12 IPL games in his career. The Capitals have signed Garg for a base price of 20 lakhs. The 22-year-old has featured in 21 IPL games after Sunrisers picked him up in 2021. He has scored 251 runs at an average of 15.68 in 17 innings. The middle-order batter has also a fifty in his name. Delhi Capitals have been struggling from the beginning to have a consistent batting form. The addition of Garg has to enrich their squad and relieve some pressure off David Warner.
Delhi Capitals have won just a single game out of six matches. They have crossed the threshold of 200 runs and face troubles while chasing too. The sole victory can only be attributed to the bowlers who limited Kolkata Knight Riders to a meager total. Nevertheless, The same tactic cannot be employed at every match, meaning that the batting needs to be better.
