ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Groups: India and Pakistan, Australia and England, placed in same group

The initial stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is poised to deliver thrilling clashes, featuring cricketing giants and historical rivals.

According to reports from The Telegraph, the group stage draw has placed perennial adversaries India and Pakistan in Group A. India-Pakistan World Cup Rivalry goes beyond decades and often pull in huge crowds.

In parallel, Group B sets the stage for a face-off between Ashes rivals Australia and England. Australia, the defending champions, after World Test Championship and The ODI World Cup victories in 2024 will be putting extra efforts to seal down T20I once again.

The T20 extravaganza boasts a total of 20 participating teams, strategically divided into four groups labeled A, B, C, and D, each comprising five teams. Group A features cricketing powerhouses India and Pakistan alongside Ireland, Canada, and the co-hosts, the USA. Group B, on the other hand, witnesses defending champions England and the 2021 tournament winners, Australia, locking horns with Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.

The co-hosts, West Indies, share Group C with New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. Meanwhile, Group D comprises South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Nepal. The format dictates that the top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, with the seeding determined prior to the tournament.

The teams placed in Group A will exclusively compete in the USA during the group stage, while those in Group B will play in the Caribbean.

Can India end their decade-long wait? Will England comeback after poor performance at ODI WC?

As the cricketing world eagerly awaits the showdown between traditional rivals and the clash of titans, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 promises an exhilarating spectacle for fans worldwide.
