“He had personal issues with me”: Umar Akmal Lashes Out Against Former Coaches Mickey Arthur And Waqar Younis

Umar Akmal was last seen playing an international match for Pakistan, long back in the month of October in 2019.

The right-handed batsman of Pakistan, Umar Akmal rebuked his former coaches Mickey Arthur and Waqar Younis of dismantling his cricketing career. Akmal feels that he was not given enough opportunities to prove himself in the Pakistan Cricket Team because of the personal bias that the coaches had against him. Not to mention, the middle-order batsman has not played a single international match since the month of October in 2019. In a recent interview, Umar Akmal lashes out against former coaches Mickey Arthur and Waqar Younis.

Mickey Arthur had personal issues with me. But, the team management at that time, didn’t raise a voice for me and they’ve been silent till today. However, Mickey Arthur later did admit that he used harsh words on me. I’m among those rare cricketers of Pakistan who have been ignored at every turn”, he added.

Although, after the interview and statements of the Pakistani cricketer were viral, Mickey Arthur reacted to them by tweeting on the matter.

Umar Akmal also revealed in the interview that he personally asked Imran Khan to share an opinion to the team management in order to send him at No.3 position. “I asked Imran Khan to recommend team management to send me at number three. Imran Khan himself asked Waqar Younis why I was not a part of the top-order. Waqar Younis was a legendary fast bowler but I couldn’t understand him as a head coach”.
