In India, where every cricket-loving youngster aspires to play the sport at a competitive level, often few intend to adopt malpractices to gain an unfair edge in their careers. Especially in age-bound tournaments, cases of players forging their ages have unfortunately been quite common. Over the years, the BCCI has implemented strict penalties to keep a vigil and control the scene of age fraud. Here are 5 Indian cricketers who faced bans for age fraud by the BCCI.
Prince Ram Niwas Yadav
The Delhi cricketer was banned for 2 seasons by the BCCI on charges of age-fudging in several U-19 tournaments. While the birth certificate showed Yadav to be December 2001 born, his Class X certificate issued by CBSE revealed his actual birth date to be June 10, 1996.
Ankeet Bawne
The flamboyant Maharashtra middle-order batter was considered a prodigy when he debuted in domestic cricket. He was set to lead Team India in the U-19 World Cup but was dropped from the squad just prior to the marquee tournament. His actual date of birth is Sep 01, 1992, but as per BCCI records, it was Dec 17, 1992.

Rasikh Salam
The only 3rd cricketer to get an IPL contract from Jammu and Kashmir, the speedster grabbed eyeballs when he donned the jersey of MI in IPL 2019. However, his career got speed braked after the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education reported his age discrepancy to JKCA. The BCCI charged the youngster with a 2-year ban. The pacer was back in IPL 2022 in KKR but went wicketless in the 2 games he played.
Manjot Kalra
The centurion of the U-19 World Cup 2018 hogged the limelight alongside the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubhman Gill, Shivam Mavi, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti to be the next reckoning force in Indian cricket. However, the opener is embroiled in an age-fraud controversy in DDCA. Thus, despite getting an IPL contract from DD, he was not permitted to play a single match.

A consistent performer in IPL, the KKR southpaw’s career could have gone the wrong lane back in 2015 when he was banned for age discrepancy in age-group competitive cricket. However, he came back strong to being one of the most sought-after batters presently.
