What now?

India vs WI, COVID, COVID hits Indian camp

There’s a 7-day mandatory quarantine for players who’ve tested positive and in addition to it, each of the players will have to return 2 negative tests before joining the team again.

Shikhar Dhawan did really well in the recently concluded South Africa ODI series due to this of his performance, he was assured of his place in the ODIs. But now with COVID, as the protocols suggest, he may miss 2 ODIs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is clearly an upcoming star for India and has been included in the squad from the last couple of tours. But he did not get a chance to play. People have criticized the team management for not giving him a place in the playing XI.

Shreyas Iyer– Lately his form has not been great. He did not have a great South Africa tour. As it is his place is always tied with Suryakumar Yadav. He had the opportunity to get his form back against West Indies and seal himself a place.

With these players missing, India will have to look at players to replace them. Ishan Kishan can open along with Rohit Sharma in the ODIs in place of Shikhar Dhawan. Suryakumar will easily come in place of Shreyas Iyer.

While the number of cases and names have not been released officially by the BCCI, this information is based on different sources and reliable media.
