Big Bash League 12: Sydney Thunder bowled out by Adelaide Strikers for just 15 runs

In a shocking historical event, Sydney Thunder has been left shell-shocked as they were all out just for 15 runs by Adelaide Strikers in the 5th game of the Big Bash League 12. This is now the lowest-ever score in BBL history. Previously the record was held by Melbourne Renegades in 2015 where they were all out for just 57 runs.

Big Bash League 12: How good were the Adelaide Strikers bowlers

Wes Agar and Henry Thornton ran riot as they picked up a total of 9 wickets combined. The man of the match Thornton took 5 wickets in the game in his 3 overs and Agar took his share of 4 wickets.

Man of the Match Henry Thornton said: “Have no clue what’s going on, it’s amazing. We thought they bowled really, really well considering what the wicket was doing, but we hung in there long enough”.

“Haven’t seen anything similar to this ever, unbelievable stuff to be honest. We just thought that if we could bowl on top of the stumps, we were clear on what we had to execute. I think we got a lot of nick-offs and Short took one of the best catches at first slip”.

He further added: “Really happy for Wes Agar, he bowled really well. Was super disciplined, great performance by him. Pretty unique (bowling with three slips), I just couldn’t believe it. Lynn was like if you want two or three slips, it was quite amazing. To have guys like Lynn next to you, it’s amazing. To be honest I couldn’t believe it”.

A day to forget for the Sydney Thunder

Poor performance from Sydney Thunder led to their downfall as their top order batters failed to launch a good start, even though they managed to restrict Adelaide Strikers to under 140 runs. A score that seemed achievable went on to become a nightmare for them.

It all began with a good catch by Hose in the opening over, which set off a chain reaction and wickets kept tumbling. Every Thunder batter came and edged and went. The Strikers’ catching was outstanding, and the keeper had a field day. This is definitely a day that the Sydney Thunder wants to wipe from their memory.
