Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill of India are likely to be promoted to the BCCI and its list of central contracts as a result of their stellar run of form. Suryakumar and Gill, who are currently in category C, are expected to move up to B, while Hardik Pandya, who is expected to become India’s next T20I captain, is expected to move up to A, which includes Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. All the new revamped contracts are set to be announced later this month on December 21.

What will happen to the BCCI central contracts of Rahane and Ishant?
Senior cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma, who were regular members of the Indian Test squad during the MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli captaincy eras, are nearing the end of their respective careers, and the board may be considering either player to return to the national team. Rahane and Ishant were demoted from category B to C, but they are now in danger of being dropped from the BCCI central contracts list entirely.Â
What are the yearly payouts per category?
According to paygrade, Category A is the highest, with players earning $7 million per year. Players in B are paid 5 crore and players in category C earn $3 million per year.
Are the new contracts for SKY and Gill justified?
Suryakumar Yadav has been India’s player of the year, scoring over 1500 runs in 41 matches this year, 1164 of which have come in T20Is, including two scintillating centuries. Suryakumar’s T20I exploits earned him a spot at the top of the ICC batsmen rankings. On the other hand, Gill has scored 743 runs in 22 matches this year, including five half-centuries and a maiden century for India.
