BCCI banned Boria Majumdar for 2 years for intimidating and threatening Saha

A ban for 2 years is imposed on Boria Majumdar for bullying Saha after the latter was dropped from the Indian team.

The Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI) has banned journalist Boria Majumdar for threatening and intimidating India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha. The ban is informed by the BCCI interim CEO, Hemang Amin to all states in an internal letter addressed by him.

“As you may be aware, Mr Wriddhiman Saha had shared screenshots of messages sent by a journalist on social media platform, Twitter, wherein he stated that he felt bullied by the conduct of the said journalist. Mr Saha in the hearing named Mr Boria Majumdar as the journalist,”

Hemang Amin wrote in his email to members of the board.

The decision is taken by 3 members committe comprising of vice-president, Rajiv Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and counsler Prabhtej Singh Bhatia formed by BCCI , to investigate the bullying of Wriddhiman Saha who claimed that he was bullied by a journalist after he refused to give an interview.

The 3 member committe heard from both Wriddhiman Saha and Boria Majumdar and then recommended 2 year ban to the BCCI apex council. BCCI apex council agreed to the recommedation given by the committe and found Boria Majumdar guilty for threatening and intimidating Saha.

The Sanctions Imposed on Boria Mazumdar

The 2 year ban by BCCI for Boria Majumdar includes:

– Won’t be getting accreditation as a member of press in India.

– Won’t be getting any interview for registered player in India.

– Won’t get access to any BCCI members owned association cricket facilities.

The enitre incident happened after Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the India test team for home series against Sri Lanka and hours later he put out screenshots on Twitter alleging that he was threatened by a ‘respected’ journalist for an interview.

“After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.”

Wriddhiman Saha wrote on Twitter.

Saha shared the screenshot of messages (whatsapp conversation) on twitter which made enitre cricket fraternity shocked and angry. Saha later said on twitter that he will not reveal the identity of journalist. This entire thing lead to BCCI getting in action of investigating the entire incident.

Wriddhiman Saha is currently representing Gujarat Titans in IPL whereas Boria Majumdar is currently running his own channel on YouTube.
