“Saved my career, many times,” tennis star hails ‘living legend’ Novak Djokovic for helping tennis players

Hailing Djokovic for being a 'living legend' (which she called him in another interview), Prisacariu stated that his sponsorships have helped many players from Serbia.

Romanian tennis player Andreea Prisacariu calls Novak Djokovic inspiring because the Serb played a crucial role in saving her career amid financial struggles. She started playing professional tennis in 2018 and has been competing in the ITF circuit.

Hailing Djokovic for being a ‘living legend’ (which she called him in another interview), Prisacariu stated that his sponsorships have helped many players from Serbia and that the 35-year-old has saved her career many times.

“Novak Djokovic, forever inspiration,” Prisacariu said on the Match Point Canada podcast. “And he’s one of the few that actually helps the tennis players from Serbia. He actually sponsors them. It’s amazing what he does. I don’t ever have words to describe him. I mean, he saved my career, many times through my ages. Prisacariu added that as a junior, she used to watch Djokovic’s videos on YouTube.

“When I was a junior, I used to search his videos on YouTube and I was just watching and watching and I was falling asleep with his voice in the room and I was waking up to that and I was watching the shots and then again and again and again. So, he’s definitely amazing,” she added. Also Read: Novak Djokovic Will Absolutely Be Ready For The French Open, Says Former Tennis Star

Novak Djokovic stays on top in the latest ATP Rankings

Djokovic still stands atop at the latest ATP Rankings released on Monday (April 24). However, his lead over World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz has decreased after the Serb’s early ATP 250 Banja Luka exit.

Djokovic lost to fellow Serb Dusan Lajovic in the quarterfinals in Banja Luka. This saw him drop ranking points. He currently has 7,135 points, while Alcaarz has 6,775 points. He is also eyeing successfully defending his title in Madrid Masters from which Djokovic has pulled out.
