Andy Murray’s mother Judy Murray believes that Emma Raducanu is missing out on having a social life because she is surrounded by older men in her team, plus the packed schedule. At the same time, Judy doesn’t think it’s necessary for Emma to have a female coach.
“Not necessarily. I think she is a great young athlete, very smart head. She loves tennis, reads the game well,” Judy said during a recent interview when she was asked if Raducanu should hire a female coach. Raducanu is currently working with coach Sebastian Sachs, who is also her fifth coach since June 2021.

Judy said that Emma Raducanu might be missing out on her social life because of all the training and working with older guys.
“At the age of 20, if your whole team are guys and usually pretty much older guys, I think you miss out on the social side, where most of your friends are probably students, they are learning and partying” Judy added. She then wished that the 20-year-old should train and develop her game in peace, away from media’s spotlight “although the media may have another ideas“. Notably, Emma Raducanu is the only player in the history of tennis to win a Grand Slam as a qualifier. The Brit achieved this feat by defeating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the final of the 2021 US Open. But she couldn’t clinch another Grand Slam because of frequent injuries and inconsistent form.
