Mumbai: The premier Women’s Premier League Auction took place at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on 13th February 2024 amid the eighth Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.
The first-ever Women’s IPL will feature five teams: Royal Challengers Bangalore, UPWarriorz, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals. #5 Jemimah Rodrigues
Sold to Delhi Capitals for 2.2 crore
Jemimah Rodrigues, the striking face of the Indian victory against Pakistan in the World Cup was sold to DC for 2.2 crores. The all-rounder braved all the odds in the final overs and struck India to victory by scoring 53 off 38 balls.
Born on 5th September 2000, Jemimah Jessica Rodrigues debuted for the national side against South Africa in 2018. She has played 66 T20Is to date scoring 1,628 runs at an average of 30.71. Rodrigues has many accolades to her name in the field of cricket including a silver medal at Birmingham 2022.
#4 Deepti Sharma
Sold to UP Warriorz for 2.6 crore
Deepti Sharma, born on 24 August 1997 in Agra was bought by her home team UP Warriorz for the inaugural Women’s Indian Premier League. She made her T20I Debut in 2016 against Australia. Since then, Deepti has played 88 T20Is in which she scored 914 runs and picked up 97 wickets.
Deepti Sharma’s role in Indian cricket started when she alongside Poonam Raut carved the highest ODI first-wicket partnership (320) in 2017. Deepti has been an essential part of India’s final run in the ODI World Cup of 2017 and the Birmingham 2022 Silver Medal.

#2 Natalie Sciver
Sold to Mumbai Indians for 3.2 crore
Tokyo-born Natalie Sciver is one of the most important players of the English Squad. Her journey to cricket has been exceptional considering her first and second choices were Football and Tennis.
Nat Sciver has played 105 T20I Matches in which she has scored 2004 runs and picked up 78 wickets. She is currently 17th in WT20Is in terms of both numbers of runs and wickets. On auction day, the owner and creator of Natmeg were sold to Mumbai Indians for a heaping 3.2 cr.
#2 Ashleigh Gardner
Sold to Gujarat Giants for 3.2 crore
The World No 1 All-rounder Ashleigh Gardner secured the joint second-highest bid in the inaugural WPL Auction. Ashleigh Gardner has proved herself over and over. recently, she made her best figures in T20Is against New Zealand.
Gardner has played 68 T20Is so far. She has scored 6 half-centuries totaling up to 1069 career runs. In addition, she has picked up 48 scalps including a 5/12 against New Zealand in the WT20 World Cup game. Gujarat Titans bought Ash Gardner after a tight bidding that involved three teams at a prize of 3.2 Crores.
#1 Smriti Mandhana
Sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 3.4 crore
Smriti Mandhana, the poster girl of the rise of popularity for the Woman’s Cricket Team. Debuting in 2013 against Bangladesh, Smriti has played 112 T20Is, 77 ODIs, and 4 Tests.
Mandhana, being a favorite of the tournament, expected intense bidding at the Women’s Premier League Auction. It was after heavy bidding by four teams that Smriti finally came to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Smriti hs 2651 runs from her vast T20I career, seventh in the list of Most WT20I runs behind Deandra Dottin. She is also the second-highest run-getter for India after skipper Kaur’s 2956 from 132 innings.
