Delhi: Queensland’s leg spinner Matthew Kuhnemann have received a call-up to the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The 26-year-old replaces leg spinner Mitchell Swepson as the latter flies home for the birth of his first child. “I got a phone call yesterday morning when we were walking out for the warm-up, to my surprise. I was pretty shocked and I was probably a little bit nowhere in the first session yesterday” Matt said on Sunday.
Matthew Kuhnemann has played 13 First Class matches in which he picked up 35 wickets from 23 innings. His last match against Queensland ended in a defeat, where he could only pick two wickets.
He made his international debut in ODI last year against Sri Lanka at Pallekele. In the four-match series, he took six wickets. Matt could get his first Baggy Green on Friday when Australia takes on India looking for a comeback at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
However, Australian squad has enough of spinners in their 15-man squad. As Delhi tends to favor spinners, Australia will field three spinners. Todd Murphy, who made a killing at teh first test and Nathan Lyon are sure to play. Ashton Agar and Cameron Green are the rest two. Nevertheless, Agar is highly unlikely to play after his weak performance in nets.
Kuhnemann will find himself in Australia’s test gear if Cameron Green who opted out of Nagpur due to injury is unavailable. Additionally, Australian coach Andrew McDonald has said that the 26-year-old has a live chance to play at Delhi.
