Monty Williams extends contract with the Suns: Reports

The 2021-22 Coach of the Year extends contract with the Suns and aims to lead them to higher levels.

According to ESPN’s reports, the Suns’ current coach Monty Williams will remain their coach for the anticipatable future. 

Williams had two years remaining in his contract and now it has been extended to “several” more seasons. He has now earned a “long-term” extension from the Suns. 

This seems like just another addition to the Suns’ masterplan to keep its core for the upcoming few seasons, considering they have also extended Devin Booker’s and Deandre Ayton’s contract.

About Monty Williams:

Monty Williams led the Suns to a record high 64-18 last season, which is the best record in the history of the team. He also guided the Suns to the Finals in 2021. 

Williams has been with the Suns for three seasons, and boasts of consecutive playoff appearances and a very impressive 149-78 record. 

Before the Suns, he used to coach the New Orleans Pelicans. His career record is 322-299.

As a player, Williams was a gifted and a highly polished athlete who aimed for excellence.

Playing as small forward, he has a 456 games career, in which he averaged 6.3 points, 1.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game. 

It is sure that with this move, the Suns have gotten a step closer to maintaining their incredible form, and will have astonishing seasons ahead of them.
