The Rajkot-based Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, also known as the Khandheri Cricket Stadium. It is Gujarat’s first solar-powered stadium. This stadium has a cantilever design and no pillar hinders even a single spectator. This is one of the rare cricket stadiums in India that has full roofing over spectators. Rajkot is one of the newest cricketing venues in India as its foundation stone was laid in 2008 and was opened to matches in 2013. In 2013, the first international match took place in this stadium. The host (India) played an ODI against England. In the same year, it hosted its first T20I between India and Australia which India won by six wickets. In 2016, this stadium hosted its first Test, India vs England. However, the test ended in a draw.

This stadium is not a large stadium but houses some of the modern amenities and least to say a Lord’s modelled capsule press box. There are also two grounds for cricket. The other, which is right beside, is 70 metres long and most probably this would be used for the India-South Africa game.

Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium Pitch Details
The pitch in Rajkot is likely to be a flat one, with a score near the 200-run mark a necessity for the bowlers to defend. With 153 being the lowest score in the three T20Is at this venue so far, expect another high-scoring contest at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. With Indian openers in great form, the Men in Blue can bank on their performances and exploit the batting-friendly wicket in Rajkot. Yuzvendra Chahal and Tabraiz Shamsi, could have a big say if the track helps them exploit the conditions. The spinners will have a crucial role to play at some point in the match.
