“He has taken long to hit a bad form, so coming out would take equally long” RP Singh on Virat Kohli struggling with form

Virat Kohli scored 341 runs in 16 matches. He was trolled for scoring 58 off 53 deliveries, which became the slowest half-century of the season.

Virat Kohli who is often regarded as one of the greatest modern-day cricketers has been struggling with form for over 2 years. Several cricket experts have analyzed the phase of his career. While some suggested him to take a break from the sport, some others asked advised him to continue playing to figure out what would work the best for him. Now, former India pacer RP Singh has talked about the “very big bad patch” that Virat Kohli has been going through. Unlike several others, Rudra Pratap Singh has supported Virat playing slow knocks to be able to get his form back. However, Singh suggests T20 is not the format for Virat to try this out. And Virat can take his time, scoring the singles and doubles to get back to form in the Test and One Day formats.

RP Singh made a statement acknowledging Virat’s abilities and performances in the past. He said “he has taken long to hit a bad form, so coming out of it is going to take equally long.”

RP Singh on Virat Kohli struggling with form

“His time is bad. The way he is getting out, it is strange the manner in which he is getting out. We’ve never seen Virat this way. This is a very big bad patch and with Virat, he has taken long to hit a bad form, so coming out of it is going to take equally long. In ODIs and Tests, you can consume balls and slowly get back to form. In T20s, you don’t have that liberty.

If you have to come to form, you can start by scoring 60 off 50-55 balls. You can’t expect to score 100 off 55 balls. You have to spend time and take singles, doubles. Coming back to form isn’t easy because he has been dominating for years. Virat must be wondering himself that ‘I used to dominate once but now get out whenever ball touches the bat’. He has taken the right method but the format is wrong.”
