Andrey Rublev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction, Head-to-head, preview, Betting Tips and Live Stream – Madrid Open 2022

Tsitsipas expected to prevail against the Belgrade champion.

World No.8 Andrey Rublev of Russia will take on World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal of the 2022 Madrid Open on Friday, May 6.

Andrey Rublev had a tremendous start to the year. The Russian already secured two titles, the being the Marseille Open and the Dubai Open. Rublev won four more matches in Indian Wells reaching the semifinals, but eventually falling short with a semifinal defeat to Taylor Fritz. He had a difficult start to the clay season, but he registers a stellar comeback in Belgrade where he defeated the World no.1 Novak Djokovic to claim the Title. But Rublev’s level of tennis has dropped down in Madrid compared to the Serbia Open. The Russian is making more errors than error but still has pulled off two good victories in the first and second round of the Madrid Open. But, the charm might not work against the in form Tsitsipas if he does not reduce the number of unforced errors.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is looking as good he always looked in clay courts. Tsitsipas had one of the best runs in his career in last year’s clay court season and finished runner up in the 2021 French Open. The greek has been inconsistent after that and did not produce any major title. But since the start of clay season this year, the 23 year old has jumped back into his last year’s form and defended his title in Monte Carlo Masters. He looked very comfortable defeating Lucas Pouille and a very solid looking Grigor Dimitrov in the first and second rounds of the Madrid Open. If he plays similar tennis on Friday, he should get past the Russian with relative ease.

Andrey Rublev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction: Who will win this match?

There is not much to separate these two players. As the head to head records suggest both are equals in the game and there is no clear favourite in this match up. But, the surface they play on plays a huge factor in differentiating the two. Tsitsipas has always proven to play a superior level of tennis when it come to the clay court. Even though Rublev is not a bad player on clay, the Greek clearly has the advantage here and is expected to pass through in to semifinals.

Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in two tight sets.
