Here are 5 of the biggest flops of IPL 2022:

Odean Smith

Built like a truck, Odean Smith came into the IPL with huge expectations. Nabbed by the Punjab Kings for Rs 6 Crore, the Jamaican has however taken only 6 wickets in 6 games at an economy of 12. His batting too hasn’t been great, scoring 51 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 116. These figures diminish even further if you take away his 4-30 vs MI and 25 of 8 vs RCB. Smith’s lack of variations and inability to handle pressure situations has made him a huge disappointment.

Varun Chakravarthy

The mystery spinner from Chennai has failed to recreate the magic he weaved during the two previous seasons. With a best of 1-23 and an average of 55, his failure to perform has seen KKR slump to 6th in the points table. While many have questioned Chakravarthy’s retention, KKR’s decision to retain him certainly had its merits.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma‘s form has been a major concern for the Mumbai Indians this IPL. The hitman’s inability to perform at the top of the order has seen MI lose their first 6 matches. Scoring 114 runs at an average of 19, the MI skipper has been a major disappointment to both his franchise and fans. Consequently, the Paltan has had their worst start to the IPL and are virtually out of playoff contention.

Tymal Mills

Picked as a replacement for Trent Boult, T20 specialist Tymal Mills has been taken to the cleaners by the opposition batsman. Despite picking a 3-wicket haul, the Englishman has been very expensive this season. With an economy of 11.2, Mills’s failure to perform at the death has made things very difficult for his side.

Mohammed Siraj

After having a tremendous 2021 IPL season doubts over Mohammed Siraj’s ability as a T20 bowler has crept in again. His bowling this season has triggered conversations of the past as Siraj’s performance was albeit forgetful. In addition to his economy of 10.25 runs per over, the bowler has managed to grab only 5 wickets in 6 matches.
