The Battle of Alberta started off with Brett Kulak, homeboy from Stony Plain hooking one up in the first period. Zach Hyman also maintained his stellar record of scoring on all his Outdoor Games.
Nazem Kadri scored one in the approaching last five minutes of the period, awaking Calgary’s fans with equal interest. Draisatl provided his second assist of the night when Bouch shook the net with a classic point shot.
The second period saw Flames scoring their second with AJ Greer. The hometown heroes notched up the sweetness of victory by two goals in the final period.
Vincent Descharnais and Evander Kane added the two goals in the third period. Evander Kane made a three-pointer by assisting twice and scoring once. He joined the ranks of Steve Staios (with Edmonton in 2003) and Vinnie Hinostroza (with Sabres in 2022) as players with 3+ points in a Heritage Classic. Meanwhile, Vincent scored his first-ever NHL goal in his career.
