Roger Federer refrains from answering that Novak Djokovic is the GOAT

Federer, who marked his attendance at the Halle Open as 'Roger Federer Day', where he won a record 10 titles, cited the examples of Boris Becker and Djokovic to emphasize on the difficulty of choosing the greatest of all time.

Swiss legend Roger Federer expressed his admiration for Novak Djokovic who recently clinched his record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title. However, he refrained from declaring that the Serb is the GOAT (greatest of all time).

At the recently-concluded French Open, Djokovic won his third title by beating Casper Ruud and surpassed Rafael Nadal’s 22-Grand Slam record.

Federer, who marked his attendance at the Halle Open as ‘Roger Federer Day’, where he won a record 10 titles, cited the examples of Boris Becker and Djokovic to emphasize on the difficulty of choosing the greatest of all time.

“I think what Novak has done is unbelievable,” said Federer. “The whole matter is difficult to answer. I asked a friend, what is more difficult, winning Wimbledon at 17, like Boris Becker, or the French Open at 36 like Novak?”

“I don’t know. It’s a great time to be a tennis fan but also a player. It means a lot to me. Of course, I’m overjoyed. I was able to shape this tournament myself with so many victories. It feels like a home away from home.” Also Read: Rennae Stubbs points out similarities between Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic

Patrick Mourtaoglou says beating Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon is the toughest

Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mourtaoglou opined that beating Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon is the toughest to beat in tennis. Mourtaoglou made an appearance on episode seven of Netflix’s ‘Break Point’ docu-series.

“Beating Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon is probably the highest mountain to climb for any tennis player,” Mourtaoglou said.

The Serb has won Wimbledon seven times and is eyeing to tie the tally with Roger Federer. Wimbledon is set to start on July 3.
