World No.1 Carlos Alacarz will square off against Taro Daniel in the second round of the French Open on Wednesday (May 31) in Paris.
Alcaraz is enjoying a great season in 2023, having won four titles since his Argentina Open win. He missed playing in Australian Open due to injury and made a comeback in Argentina, wrapping up the tournament with a trophy. His other titles came in Indian Wells, Barcelona, and Madrid.
In the first round, the Spaniard defeated Flavio Cobolli in straight sets 6-0, 6-2, 7-5. He played his first French Open match after a third-round loss to Fabian Marozsan in the Italian Open.
Taro Daniel, meanwhile, easily defeated Christopher O’Connell 6-0, 6-2, 4-6 in the first round. The Australian has not lifted the trophy since playing the first tournament this season in Adelaide. Carlos Alcaraz vs Taro Daniel prediction
Without a doubt, the World No.1 will enter the match as a favorite to win. He has already bagged two titles on clay this season and looks quite formidable in France. His powerful serve, baseline game, and famous drop shots will certainly give him an edge over Daniel. But at the same time, Alcaraz is not only the favorite to win this match but this tournament altogether. He has emerged as an all-court player and on clay, the Spaniard is a beast and is on 60-13 on the surface with seven titles.
Prediction: Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
