The American tennis player Sebastian Korda talks about his ultimate goal in tennis. He was one of the semi-finalists in the 2024 Shanghai Masters but failed to lift the trophy. He lost the semi-finals against Hubert Hurkacz and was just two wins away from lifting his second career title.
While he was interviewing after the post-match conference, one journalist asked him a question about dealing with pressure. Since he belongs to a sports family and his father, Petr Korda, is also a Grand Slam winner.
In case you missed: Rafael Nadal says, “I am practicing every day and working hard to come back asap.”
Sebastian Korda was very calm with his answer and said, “I don’t think it creates any pressure. We all love what we do, and I would love to be better than my dad.” He further concluded by saying,
“My Ultimate goal in tennis is to win 2 Grand Slams, one more than my dad.”
So far, Sebastian Korda’s journey in tennis has been quite average. He turned professional in 2018, and since then, he has competed in more than 150 matches. His highest rank in the ATP Singles Ranking is 26th, which he achieved this year and is improving day by day.
When it comes to career titles, he has only won one. Whereas, his best performance in a Grand Slam tournament was in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Australian Open. He has a long way to go and is improving day by day. He can definitely win one or more Grand Slam titles if he remains consistent in the sport with improvement.
