Over the past few years, the Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has ruled the sport. He has won multiple Grand Slam tournaments and is currently the No. 1 ranked player, despite being 36 years old. Moreover, the best of his career came after turning 30. Looking at his dominance, Juan Carlos Ferrero shares advice for youngsters to hit Djokovic’s level.
Juan Carlos Ferrero said:
“What we have to do is train like animals to reach the level of Novak Djokovic!”
Here is the complete statement:
“I told Carlos last year when Novak won the Masters (ATP Finals) with that level, ‘Have you seen that? Now what we must do is train like animals to reach Novak’s level. Jannik is going to do it, and we must do the same.’ And he answered me, ‘Yes, yes, yes, let’s go with everything.’”
As mentioned, Djokovic is currently 36 years old, but still, he is better than the top-ranked youngsters. Last season, Djokovic lost only seven games, of which two came to Jannik and one to Alcaraz. They both tasted victory against Djokovic but also lost against him.
They are heading in the correct direction but need to train more, as Juan Carlos Ferrero said.
This season, Jannik Sinner already defeated Novak Djokovic and was during the 2024 Australian Open semi-final. Not only did Sinner defeat Djokovic, but he also won the Grand Slam tournament.
Can both youngsters stop Djokovic by defeating him and winning Grand Slam tournaments? Let us know your views in the comment section.
