Iga Swiatek reaches French Open Finals: Set to break Serena Williams’s record of the longest winning streak since 2013.

Will Swiatek be able to break Serena's record and match Venus's win streak?

World number 1, Polish national Iga Swiatek reached the French Open Finals on Thursday and in the process equalled a record held by Serena Williams for 9 years.

By reaching the finals Swiatek extended her match-winning streak in 2022 to 34 and matched Serena’s run from 2013. If Swiatek manages to win the Final, she would also equal the record of Venus Williams of 35 match wins in a row held since 2000.

Swiatek will face Coco Gauff in the Finals. The probability is high that she will break Serena’s record and equal Venus’ record.

Another milestone that Swiatek achieved is that she became the first player since Serena in 2015, to win 15 straight matches on the Clay surface. Serena holds the record with 20 straight wins on Clay.

Swiatek’s 2022 has been nothing been amazing. She rose to the Number 1 in the WTA Rankings and won the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open and the Italian Open in the process.

This will be Swiatek’s second Grand Slam Final. She reached the Finals here at the French Open in 2020 and won it.
