Emma Raducanu withdraw due to a back injury from the Italian Open 2022

Emma suddenly withdrew from her second clay-court tournament amid a back pain

After facing a back injury during the match against Bianca Andresscu, Emma Raducanu walked over to the match. The youngest British US Open champion has withdrawn from the Italian Open 2022.

In the Round of 64, on Tuesday, 10 May she felt some problem related to her back while the second set was at 1-2. She started her clay-court season at the Madrid Open 2022 where she did not perform to the level. Emma was early eliminated by the Ukrainian, Kalinina from the Round of 16 at Madrid. Emma was playing her second clay-court tournament in the Italian Open.

According to reports, Emma will fly back to London to find out the actual reason for this back injury. She will take off this week to determine whether a scan is necessary to know the extent. The back pain became quite serious during the second set as she conveyed to the on-court physio that she can’t move.

Emma had a pretty good performance in Stuttgart as she succeeded to reach the quarterfinals. She will need time to be sure about her appearance at the French Open which is scheduled from May 22 to June 5. Therefore, withdrew from the Italian Open. Emma made it clear that she wants to be sure to return with complete fitness for her upcoming match.
