World No.49 David Goffin will take on the Serbian Filip Krajinovic in the First Round of the 2022 Serbia Open on Tuesday, April 19.
David Goffin is having a very good year so far. He has started the clay season with an interesting run in the Monte Carlo Open where he reached the Round of 16 after defeating Lehecka and Daniel Evans. He eventually lost to the finalist Fokina. Prior to Monte Carlo, Goffin claimed the championship in Marrakech after defeating Dzumhur, Andujar, Carballes Baena, and Coria to reach the final before sealing the deal in a 3-set victory against Molcan 3-6 6-3 6-3 to lift the trophy in Morocco. Goffin will look to continue his good form in clay and move to the second round in Serbia.
Filip Krajinovic is having a very unstable year so far. The Serb exited the Monte Carlo Masters in the first round after loosing to the fellow serb Lajovic in straight sets. The best performance of Krajinovic this year was in the Montpellier Open where he reached the semifinals after defeating Popyrin, Tsonga and Dzumhur without dropping a set. He eventually lost in the semifinals against Alexander Bublik. Facing Goffin for the seventh time in his career, Krajinovic will look to secure a victory at his home country.
