D’Andre Swift in Philadelphia for NFL Season: We are all set to witness a reunion of former Georgia teammates in Philadelphia at the NFL 2024 season. We will see notable former Georgia teammates donning Philadelphia jersey this season including the running back DāAndre Swift. On Saturday, Eagles acquired Swift in trade with the Lions as per ESPN.
The former Georgian Reunion
It has been a great NFL Draft 2024 for the Eagles where they pounced upon three former Georgia teammates. They’re DT Jalen Carter, LB Nolan Smith & CB Kelee Ringo. These three are from University of Georgia,picked up by Philadelphia Eagles in the 1st & 4th round respectively.
DāAndre Swiftās inclusion to the Eagles came as a surprise as Brad Holmes, the General Manager of Detroit Lions (when asked about Swift) on Thursday night said, āYeah, I mean, DāAndre, heās still on our roster.ā But on Saturday afternoon he took a U turn.
He announced the trade of DāAndre Swift to Philadelphia, saying āItās my job to keep laser focus on the present, but probably even more importantly, keep laser focus on the future, & thatās what went into a lot of decision with having to make the trade with DāAndre Swift to Philly.ā Swift enters his final year of the rookie contract set to earn $1.774 million base salary.

How has DāAndre Swift fared, so far
DāAndre Swift, a freshman at Georgia during College Football Playoff 2017, had a good stat of rushing for 618 yards with 7.6 yards per rush. In total, when Swiftās career at Georgia came to an end, he had great numbers. He had rushed for 2,885 yards, 20 touchdowns with another 666 yards & 5 touchdowns as a receiver.
Later when he joined Detroit Lions in 2020, he played for 3 seasons where he rushed for 1,680 yards, 18 touchdowns, 156 receptions & 1,198 receiving yards. DāAndre is yet to be considered a workhorse after his continuous struggle to stay fit. He has missed at least three games in each season with Detroit.
