On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Lakers flew to Sacramento to face the Sacramento Kings. Hoping to remain undefeated in 2024 in the second of a back-to-back. LeBron James played despite being doubtful, and the Lakers won their fifth straight game, defeating the Kings 136-134.

As time ran out, Fox’s 42-foot attempt bounced off the rim after Schroder converted the crucial free throws.

With 48.1 seconds left, James completed a three-point play to give Los Angeles a 133-132 lead. With 18.9 seconds remaining, Westbrook missed two free throws, and with 7.4 seconds left, Fox’s 13-foot turnaround jumper knotted the game. While Thomas Bryant led Los Angeles with a season-high 29 points on 12-of-14 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds, James added eight rebounds and seven assists. Russell Westbrook had 23 points and equaled his season-high of 15 assists for the Lakers, and Schroder scored 27 points while shooting 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.

For the Kings, Domantas Sabonis finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists before fouling out. De’Aaron Fox scored 34 points and nine assists. Harrison Barnes’ 18 points led Sacramento, Kevin Huerter’s 17, Keegan Murray’s 16, and Trey Lyles’ 11.
