The Dallas Mavericks have signed NBA great Justin Holiday after Buyouts

The amount of Justin Holiday's deal for the 2022–23 campaign is $6,292,440

Justin Holiday, a seasoned guard, has agreed to a buyout deal with the Houston Rockets and intends to sign with the Dallas Mavericks after clearing waivers.

Holiday, who played 28 games for the Atlanta Hawks this season and averaged 4.5 points in a small number of minutes, was traded to the Rockets last week. He started for the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers last year, averaging 10.1 points per game.

After acquiring Kyrie Irving through a trade last week, the Mavericks have been actively searching for perimeter depth. Justin Holiday most likely won’t join the Mavericks until after the All-Star break due to the buyout and waiver procedures.

LaMarcus Aldridge, a free agent center/forward will also attend Tuesday’s session, according to sources who spoke to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The amount of Justin Holiday’s deal for the 2022–23 campaign is $6,292,440. This contract only has one year left, therefore he will have to sign a new one during the summer. Also Read: Joel Embiid overtakes Allen Iverson to become the 76ers’ fastest player to reach 10,000 points

Justin Holiday impact on the Dallas Mavericks

Holiday, 34, can now give a club that sorely needs it more depth on the wings. After agreeing to send Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith. While that transaction was undoubtedly the one they needed to make to combine Luka Doncic with a star, the Mavericks now require a larger, stronger defender. Despite his lack of reputation as a lockdown defender, given how inexpensive Justin Holiday contract is, it makes sense from their point of view to sign him and hope he can contribute. Holiday only made an appearance in 28 games for Atlanta this season. He played 14.7 minutes a game during those times, averaging 4.5 points.

He is the kind of player that teams try to add during the buyout period and move during the deadline for a variety of reasons. Dallas may benefit from a seasoned presence, and they now have one.
