Kevin Durant Injury Update- Forced to Leave Heat Game against The Nets due to right Knee Injury

If Durant misses any time due to this injury, we won't know for sure until the MRI, but if he does. Kyrie Irving and other players will have to step up.

The premier player for the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant, departed the Miami Heat game on Sunday night with a knee injury in the middle of the action. Jacque Vaughn, head coach of the Nets, provided an update due to growing worries surrounding the forward’s health.

Kevin Durant injury: How did it happen?

Jimmy Butler, a Heat guard, landed on Durant’s knee towards the conclusion of the third quarter after tripping over while attempting a layup, causing the injury. Right away, Kevin Durant started grasping at his right knee. After lying still for a short while, Durant eventually limped back to the locker room. He was later declared ineligible to continue the game by Brooklyn. Also Read: Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan of the Bulls go off in a comeback win over the Jazz

Monday’s MRI will provide an injury update

The timing of this news is unfortunate for Brooklyn because the squad recently had a winning streak of 12 games snapped and is currently on fire after winning 18 of its last 20 games. While they know it how long Kevin Durant will be out, they planned an MRI for this Monday.

If Durant misses any time due to this injury, we won’t know for sure until the MRI, but if he does. Kyrie Irving and other players will have to step up and replace his nightly output of 30 points. There isn’t a single Net that could adequately fill Kevin Durant’s role. But should they force the former league MVP to miss time? Brooklyn has the depth to at least somewhat offset his loss in performance. Net’s Coach Jacque Vaughn Statement

“Right knee, he’ll be tested tomorrow and maybe I’ll get more information,” Nets coach Jacque Vaughn said. “Most likely, imaging will be used to ensure that everything is in order.”
“You never want to see him go down like that,” Vaughn added. “Any player, for that matter. It was a really harsh crash, but you have to give our crew credit for sticking with it.”

The importance of Kevin Durant to the Nets

K.D. suffered a damaged MCL in his left knee about this time last year, sidelining him for five weeks. The Nets finished just 5-16 during that time. Including an 11-game losing run, demonstrating how crucial Durant is to this group. After losing Durant on Sunday night, the Nets somehow came back to win despite trailing by nine points late in the fourth quarter. Earning their 18th victory in the previous 20 games.
